On Tuesday, 10 September, Associate Professor Stella Clark AM delivered a half-day workshop on ‘Getting on a board and networking for various situations’ to the 2019 Leading the Way stream at The Bowl, NAB. The aim of the session was to assist participants with networking strategies, defining the role and responsibilities of a board director, and how participants can gain a board position.

Gender inequality in science is a real issue, and without frank and open discussions leading to positive action it is likely to remain so. In February 2019, Nature Reviews Cancer was invited to be part of a ‘Women in Science Mentoring’ panel discussion, which took place at the Lorne Cancer Conference in Victoria, Australia. The panel included Christina A Mitchell, previous veski board director and Leonie Walsh, previous Victorian Lead Scientist and veski connected innovation community member, Martine F Roussel and Ashani T Weeraratna.

Associate Professor Natalie Hannan, veski inspiring women fellow and 2018 veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside program participant, was announced as Associate Dean, Diversity and Inclusion, in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne.

On Monday, 12 August, Ms Michelle Gallaher delivered a full-day workshop on ‘Becoming an online influencer’ to the 2019 Leading the Way and Stamina streams at The Bowl, NAB. The aim of the session was to help participants define, articulate and execute their personal and professional social media strategies.

On Monday, 3 June 2019 the veski inspiring women STEM sidebyside Stamina stream came together at Ernst & Young for the first part of their first session on Transition back to work after a career break with Susan Carter, Digital Conceptual Consulting.

On Monday, 15 July 2019, Ms Dina Pozzo, Founder and Director, insium pty ltd delivered a full-day workshop titled “Leading Self with Courage” as part of the first session for the Leading the Way stream and second session for the Stamina stream of the inspiring women STEM sidebyside program at the Victorian Innovation Hub, Launch Vic.

Congratulations to inaugural veski inspiring women fellow Associate Professor Natalie Hannan, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Melbourne Medical School, Mercy Hospital for Women, on being awarded the 2019 Melbourne Medical School Strategic Grants for Outstanding Women, as well as the International Federation of Placenta Associations, Andrèe Gruslin Award for 2019.
