Convergence Science Network launched

After six years of delivering public engagement and science communication events as the ICT for Life Sciences Forum, the organisation has officially changed its name to the Convergence Science Network.
The announcement was made by Victorian Lead Scientist Dr Leonie Walsh on Monday, 24 November 2014 in the Woodward Conference Centre of the University of Melbourne.
The Convergence Science Network will introduce new programs including a succession of panel discussions and a program for young and early researchers to share their findings, The Next Big Thing series.
It was also announced that the 2015 Graeme Clark Oration is to be delivered by Sir Paul Nurse, President of the Royal Society, who works on what controls the division and shape of cells. Nurse was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 2001 and the Royal Society Copley Medal in 2005.
The Science Convergence Network is initiating the Graeme Clark Award for Science and Innovation in Schools [through the Graeme Clark Foundation] which will be open to all secondary schools in Victoria and will recognise efforts made by schools to raise the profile of science and acknowledge exceptional results.
veski was the first organisation to bring students and their teachers to the official Graeme Clark Oration Dinner and has been hosting Victorian schools at the Oration and Oration Dinner for the past four years.
